Description
Some days the garden can feel like wall-to-wall Waxeyes, flitting about with their pretty green heads and white eye-rings. They absolutely love fruit and, being so small, can pop niftily in and out of bird netting helping itself to anything you care to grow.
A great wee mum, Tauhou can pop out two broods of pale blue eggs in a season and hatch them in her tiny cup-shaped nest lined with soft grass, moss, hair, and spiderwebs, slung like a hammock between branches. In celebration of Mother’sDay, Metal Bird have captured her in supermum mode, feeding her chicks !
Measurements: 17 cm high by 35.5 cm wide (includes measurement of the branch/spike)
Easily installed with the tap of a hammer (pre-drill hard wood)
Crafted in 3mm Corten® ‘weathering’ Steel to form a beautiful patina that changes with the seasons
The perfect gift for your mum, at any time of the year !
metal bird
Metalbird is the brainchild of Phil Walters, an industrial designer and lover of street art and New Zealand’s native flora and fauna. Metalbird started as a guerrilla street art project, all over New Zealand’s North Island, Metalbird stencils appeared. In parks, in fences and on power poles.
His handcrafted artworks bring together his passions: the tough, 3mm Corten® steel and stencil design, a nod to his urban art roots. “Our designs represent some of New Zealand’s most precious birdlife. Art isn’t just something you see on a gallery wall – it can be the way the light shines through a coloured window or the splash of spray-paint on a city overpass.”
