With a background in Architecture and design, Kelly Rowe explores the concept of our Homelands, idea of place-making, identity and spatial belonging in particular celebrating the stunning coastlines of Aoteaora. Three things feature strongly in this collection, those being the Land, the Sea and the Sky. The Land: being the solid foundation beneath our feet, represents stability, growth, an anchor. Geological formations, and coastal structures that showcase the diverse beauty of the Taranaki Region. The Sea: a vast and mysterious expanse of water, symbolizes fluidity, change, and source, emanating our beautiful coastlines. The Sky : the canvas above, embodiment of freedom, inspiration, and the unbounded potential. Ever-changing skies, radiant sunsets and cloud formations, and the light, reflective and immersive and always calming.
