Golden Memories 11
Acrylic on 24 carat gold leaf in recycled frame
145 mm sq
My work explores the stories and events forming our identity as a nation. So, I took the opportunity to be part of The Way Back Home to ask people what it is that calls them back and their experiences of returning home. The 4 works, represent their collective answers. Golden Memories 1 and 11 were special places for many, I deliberately made them small for travel. An art work that can fit into a suitcase, stand on a bedside table, recall memories of a time and place. Although It’s Never the Same is placed in an historical context it is equally be true for today. As people and places change during our absence. Falling into Memory Calls Us Home, came about as a way of capturing the flow of the conversations around The Way Back Home. I hope you enjoy the works and much as I enjoyed creating them.
